š Would You Send Your Child to a Citywide Community Children's Church? š
Imagine thisā
The doors of Kingdom Kids City Church swung open, and instantly, little Malachi was hit with the smell of fresh paint and wood shavings from the creativity station. The air buzzed with energy as kids raced to different activity zonesāsome molding clay, others building miniature houses to
represent āletting their light shine.ā
Malachi, a quiet but observant 9-year-old, had been to church before, but never like this. He clutched his sketchbook, fingers smudged with pencil marks from the superheroes and cityscapes he loved to draw. His eyes darted around the room, unsure where to start.
Thatās when Mr. J, a leader with a wide grin and a paint-streaked apron, high-fived him.
"Malachi! Weāve been waiting for you, buddy! Welcome to Glow
Zone! Today, weāre learning how to be a LIGHT in a dark world!"
Malachiās eyes widened as he noticed a massive black tent in the corner of the room. Kids were lining up to go inside. When it was his turn, he stepped through the entrance and was swallowed in total darkness. The air smelled slightly like chalk dust and fabric markers.
For a moment, silence. Thenā
āØBOOM!āØ
A single flashlight beamed across the space. Then another. And another. Soon, the entire tent
was glowing with little lights held by each child.
"Do you see it?" Mr. Jās voice echoed. "One light makes a difference, but together? We can brighten up the darkest places."
Malachi felt something stir inside him. He thought about the time he stood up for his little sister at school. The time he helped a classmate pick up their spilled crayons instead of laughing. Maybe⦠maybe that was his light.
As the lesson ended, kids ran back to the main room, where music
pumped through the speakers. They sang and danced, jumping over LED stepping stones that flashed every time their feet touched down. The smell of fresh paper and glue filled the air as Malachi sat with a new friend named Elijah at the art station, sketching a city skyline.
āYou know,ā Elijah said between brushstrokes, āI think your light is your drawings. You should paint something for the church!ā
Malachiās face lit up. No one had ever said that before. Could his gift be a light
too?
By the time his mom picked him up, Malachi couldnāt stop talking.
āMom! I learned that even my drawings can shine! Jesus said in Matthew 5:16, āLet your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven!ā So that means when I use my gifts to help or inspire people, Iām letting my light shine! I wanna come back next week! We get to build a GLOW-IN-THE-DARK prayer wall!ā
š” So, hereās the
question: If there were a place like thisāa fun, engaging, citywide Childrenās Church where kids not only learned about Jesus but got to use their gifts, meet new friends, and truly experience faith in a fresh wayā¦
